This course will explore music from a very broad vantage, spanning a timeline of over 1500 years and using recorded examples taken from cultures around the globe. With a major emphasis on listening and musical analysis, this class will also include text readings to provide historical, structural and fundamental information necessary in studying the musical arts. Oral reports and concert attendance augment written and listening examinations, which serve as the primary measure of student achievement.
