Description

An introductory course approached through ideas both chronologically and thematically. We will be introduced to the world of art, its various media, terminology, visual elements, and history, both ancient and modern. The course explores subjects, themes, and stylistic tendencies that relate to the present and the past. We will focus on ideas and the ways those ideas are artistically expressed in actual works. We will study the elements of style in the tradition of various cultures and the style of the individual artist.
