The contents of Introducing the Arts to the K-6 Classroom: A Compilation of Open Educational Resources (OERs) is a compendium that is intended to familiarize the pre-service teacher with the arts in the elementary school. Throughout this multi-touch book, the reader will explore the how and why behind integration of the arts as these can be applied in sync with the core curriculum of the K-6 classroom, as well as to delve into research, strategies, and examples of addressing visual art, music, and movement (in the form of dance, drama, and other physical activities) in this learning environment. The open-sourced material in this text will further provide recommendations for pre-service teachers to leverage the arts in assisting K-6 students to deepen their understanding and demonstrate mastery of core curriculum.
