Chemistry II

Chemistry II

Mark Jackson, Lynn University

Description

Chemistry II serves as a supplement to Chemistry I and provides an experimental exploration of fundamental concepts of chemistry. The lab activities cover topics found in the second semester of general chemistry: chromatography techniques, analysis based on stoichiometry, reactions of solids, colorimetry, oxidation-reduction of metals, acid-base chemistry and pH titrations, and kinetics and thermochemistry of combustion. Several experiments specifically build on concepts introduced in the first semester of chemistry lecture and lab (SCI 130). The goal is to equip students for subsequent science lab work in chemistry, biology, or environmental studies. The last chapter in the text is a topical review of key chemistry concepts.
