Abstract

Dylan Klim, senior assistant director of Admission at Lynn University, Rosemary Martin Edwards, Associate Director of Undergraduate Admissions at PCACAC (Potomac & Chesapeake Association for College Admission Counseling), Randy Stamm, School Counselor at Hackensack High School, and Myra Castro, College Admissions Consultant at Castro College Consulting, presented “Fly-Ins that Soar: Making Counselor Visits Meaningful,” at the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) conference in Columbus, Ohio. The session highlighted strategies to maximize the impact of counselor engagement programs.

Counselor fly-in programs and campus visits are essential tools for fostering strong relationships between high school counselors, IECs, and college admission offices. This session brings together perspectives from all sides of the desk — college representatives and high school counselors and IECs — to share insights on what makes these programs truly effective. Speakers will discuss best practices, common pitfalls, and innovative strategies for creating meaningful, informative, and engaging experiences. Suggestions for how program participants can maximize their time on fly-in programs will be discussed Attendees will leave with actionable takeaways to improve their own counselor engagement initiatives.
