Adlerian Theory and Socratic Dialogue Questioning

Abstract

In a Socratic dialogue, the philosopher employs questions to provoke thinking and to better understand the individual and their ideas. This session explores various functions and uses the application of questions for a more conscious understanding of the art of questioning for practical application to enrich Adlerian therapy.

Participants will be able to:

  1. List several questions from the Socratic method that could be useful in therapy.
  2. Describe the functions of different questions.
  3. Apply questions from the Socratic method to enrich their practice.
