Abstract
Dr. Alfred Adler identified that safeguarding is often the goal of various behaviors, symptoms, and emotions. This workshop will examine the conceptualization of mental health disorders and emotions from an Adlerian perspective vs the DSM. Assessment, conceptualization, and treatment implications of common psychopathologies among children and adolescents will be reviewed
Objectives: Participants will be able to:
- Demonstrate an understanding of how the IP model can be used to conceptualize DSM-5 disorders among children and adolescence.
- Analyze the IP theory and how it explains human suffering, emotions, and psychiatric disorders among children and adolescence.
- Practice applying IP theory with case vignettes.
