Grasping Towards My History

Description
In Paula Hyman's first collection of poetry, the author bares her soul about loss, love, birth and discovery. These relatable and visual poems each tell a story of everyday occurrences in life, as well as moments of clarity. Take for example, one series of haiku which describe Ms. Hyman's father's escape through Europe during World War II. These short, but poignant pieces show the fear of a young child and the bravery his mother and father faced to reach the United States. The remainder of these free form pieces are fluid and create a place where the reader can feel empathy.
