The John Oliveira String Competition is an annual contest held exclusively for string players studying at Lynn University Conservatory of Music. The winner receives a cash prize of $1,000 and a recital with piano in the Amarnick-Goldstein Concert Hall. The collaborative pianist receives a cash prize of $500. Further, the winners perform additional concerts in local communities.
The competition is funded by violinist Elmar Oliveira in the memory of his brother, John Oliveira. John was a violinist in the Kansas City Philharmonic and Houston Symphony. He was one of Elmar Oliveira’s first teachers. For more information, please visit the competition's website.
