Description

The College of Communication and Design hosted a Special Lecture Series, “NFT Talk,” on Monday, April 12, 2021 at 3 p.m. via Zoom, led by Professor Alex Duque.

During this lecture, Alex Duque provided a brief history of crypto currencies and how the technology is being used to create unique NFT’s. This technology is transforming the digital landscape in art, music, advertising, video, video games and other creative endeavors.

A Non-fungible token is a unit of data on a digital ledger called a blockchain, where each NFT can represent a unique digital item, and thus they are not interchangeable. NFTs can represent digital files such as art, audio, videos, items in video games and other forms of creative work. Non-fungible tokens or NFTs are cryptographic assets on block chain with unique identification codes and metadata that distinguish them from each other. Unlike cryptocurrencies they cannot be traded or exchanged at equivalency.
