Abstract

This plenary session reframes counseling advocacy as an accessible and integral component of professional practice across career stages and settings. Grounded in the ACA Advocacy Competencies, the presentation highlights advocacy across client, student, organizational, community, and public-policy domains. Through real-world examples, participants will explore how foundational counseling skills such as relationship-building, ethical decision-making, and systems awareness function as advocacy tools that promote equity and well-being. Emphasizing practical and sustainable engagement, this session supports counselors in identifying role-aligned advocacy actions, making advocacy visible, achievable, and responsive to diverse identities and practice contexts.
