Chemistry I

Chemistry I

Mark Jackson, Lynn University

Description

This text provides an experimental exploration of fundamental concepts of chemistry. The lab activities cover topics found in the first semester of general chemistry: measurement of mass and volume, experimental data, physical and chemical processes, mixture separation, properties of water, simple chromatography, reaction stoichiometry, copper reactions, oxidation-reduction of metals, acid-base chemistry, and examining plastics as models of polar and non-polar molecules .The goal of the textbook is to equip students for subsequent science lab work in chemistry, biology, or environmental studies. The last chapter in the text is a topical review of key chemistry concepts used in the lab experiments. Course: SCI 130x
