On March 22, 1999, Florida Leader magazine awarded The Pulse with Honorable Mention in the Private Universities category with the Best College Newspaper title.

The award stated, "Led by Editor in Chief Natalie Smith and Advisor Alyce Culpepper, The Pulse at Lynn University is Florida's most-improved campus publication in 1998-99. The Pulse stands out for its efficient and effective use of limited resources, commitment to serving Lynn students, and strong news and feature reporting and writing."
