Abstract
Félix Rivera-Mariani, associate professor in the College of Arts and Sciences, published an Op-Ed in the South Florida Sun Sentinel titled "One day of testing doesn't make Fort Lauderdale safe from lead." Rivera-Mariani's article critically examined a one-day lead testing study by the city of Fort Lauderdale, conducted in communities adjacent to the Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport.
The article serves as a call to action for policymakers, public health professionals and residents to advocate for rigorous, equitable and science-based environmental protections.
