Abstract
Schizophrenia is a syndrome consisting of a highly altered sense of inner and outer reality to which individuals respond in ways that impair their lives. This chapter reviews five such DSM-5-TR disorders: schizophrenia and schizophreniform disorder, delusional disorder, schizoaffective disorder, brief psychotic disorder, and substance-induced psychotic disorders in terms of their clinical and DSM-5-TR presentation, Adlerian conceptualizations, and treatment considerations along with case examples which illustrate these features.
